Malmesbury Nostalgia 1990’s

1).  Vera Punter: Whitsunday’s Child.  Born in Malmesbury on May 11th 1913, Vera Punter was an enthusiastic amateur photographer. This film, taken from a VHS tape given to Malmesbury Nostalgia / Bustard Productions, was made in 1995 and featured in the Malmesbury Nostalgia / Bustard Productions carnival presentation in 2014.


2).  Songs of Praise from Malmesbury.  Copy of a homemade video taken of BBC’s Songs of Praise, from 12th February 1995.


3).  Meet the Ancestors. Copy of a homemade video from the “Meet the Ancestors” series. An archaeological mystery. When gardener Martin Roberts unearthed a large coffin in the grounds of Abbey House, archaeologists were keen to discover the identity of the giant skeleton. From 1998.


4).  In 1992 ITV’s Highway programme, presented by Sir Harry Secombe, came to Malmesbury.  This film was digitised from a homemade VHS cassette recording given to Bustard Productions. Part of the material was shown at a subsequent Malmesbury Nostalgia / Bustard Productions event for Malmesbury Carnival.


5).  Filmed on, or later tranferred to a VHS cassette, this was digitised by Bustard Productions and shown during an interval at the 2015 Malmesbury Nostalgia / Bustard Productions event in the Town Hall, Malmesbury.


6).  Filmed in 1998 but aired on January 3rd 1999, Hugh Scully and the Antiques Roadshow team visited Westonbirt School, near Tetbury (and not far from Malmesbury). This film was taken from a VHS cassette recording given to us for the archive and Malmesbury Nostalgia events.
